The Scoop - Editorial Review by JC Kensington
Don?t let the location of Tasca fool you. While it is located next to a 7/11, it is a charming restaurant with a cozy romantic feeling. Tasca offers Spanish style tapas, which range from tasty soups to empanadas and escargot. Visit the restaurant several times and you still wont? be able to try it all, as the menu offers a wide range of tapas for the pallet. The most difficult part of the meal is usually deciding which ones to feast upon. Several items that are a must: Costatillos de ternera (beef short ribs over mashed potatoes), Queso de cabra al horno (roasted tomatos with goat cheese and basil) and Tarta gratinada de puerros (leek quiche with cheddar and manchego cheese). The only item that was disappointing was the Menestra de verudras (tower of eggplant, zucchini, squash baked in garbanzo pesto and goat cheese), which sounded so promising, although other members of the party did enjoy it.
Make sure to order a pitcher of the peach sangria. Stay for a cappucinno and desert. The bread pudding and flan are the superstars of the desert menu. Once in awhile they host flamenco shows, and have live music usually once week. Often on Sundays they offer a price fix menu, call for details.
Tasca is truly a diamond in the rough.
